Operation of the ringing of the quartersAny typos are as a result of direct translation of the original French. Operation
The small hammer is also equipped with a stem and an axis. As the small hammer works with the opposite direction of the large hammer, in the turntable a stem (28) for the swivelling of the lifting is driven out. On this stem the lifting is adjusted (22) which is intended to raise the small hammer for the first blow of each quarter. Its spring maintains it at rest all while preventing it from raising itself. The part of the quarters is maintained in home position by the pinion (29) which gears with interior teeth.
It is involved itself by the finger (30) adjusted on the square of the tree of the rocket which comes to make pressure on the pin (31) of the pinion trainer. During release, the rocket shaft while turning in the opposite direction of the needles of the watch, makes turn the finger trainer and releases the pinion of the part of the quarters.
At the time when the feeler of the hours comes resting against the level corresponding from the snail the hours, there remains a small space between the feeler (7) and the toothed rack (5) what makes it possible the latter to continue its movement ahead and to involve the diabla (33 on the toothed rack). The diabla is obliged to turn and raises the rocker of accrochement. It thus releases the part of the quarters which, under the pressure of its spring, fall resting against its snail. That implies to press à.fond on the rocker of release. In the contrary case, the ringing cannot take place. The part of the quarters is adjusted freely on a tenon fixed at the turntable. The part of the minutes is adjusted freely on the tenon of the part of the quarters; both have a spring which tends to push them against their snail.
