We
will remember always, those friends and colleagues who
have slipped away from our time...slipped away from the here and the now...and into the arms of eternity.
We shall preserve their love and knowledge
of the art and, find comfort in their spirit.
Farewell our dearly departed... fare
each of you
very well
indeed.
In Memory of John Henry Meyer
John was born January 28, 1921 in San Francisco, California and passed away
on September 7, 2007. He was the loving husband of Janet Meyer for over 50 years
until her passing in1995. John is survived by their two children, Carol Meyer
and Earl Meyer. He was very proud of his two grandchildren, Doug and Danny
Meyer. John is also survived by his brother, Stan Meyer, of Saratoga,
California.
John served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2, prior to going to work for
Westinghouse in Sunnyvale, California. After several years of service to
Westinghouse, he was persuaded by his father-in-law to join a small paint
manufacturing business he had started. John spend the remainder of his working
years in the paint business; the company was eventually bought by Benjamin Moore
and Co. After many years of service to Benjamin Moore, John retired as Western
divisional Vice-president. Friends jokingly referred to him as "Mr.
Paint."
After retirement, John took up, in earnest, the hobby of restoring and
repairing antique clocks and watches. His hobby soon became his passion--finding
old broken clocks at garage sales and restoring them to their original beauty.
He felt that half the fun was the "required exploration" to make a
"great discovery." He proudly carried home, boxes of parts only to
later turn them into beautiful works of art.
Being an ardent 49er fan, John held season tickets from the early 1950's
until his passing. He rooted for the 49ers before and after the "glory
days" of Super Bowls--truly a 49er faithful!
The family wishes to thank the staff of El Camino Dialysis Services for all
their loving care during Johns final days.
John will be greatly missed by family and many friends as he joins his wife,
Janet, in heaven.
